CNS Awarded Monitoring Contract With Major CLEC
New York, January 30, 2009 – CNS has announced that it has been awarded a network monitoring contract with a major CLEC in the New York Area. The CLEC provides local, long distance, Internet as well as integrated services, including hosted VOIP and business trunking products.
CNS will provide full network monitoring to all switches, routers and signaling equipment, which includes the Cisco SS7 and Broadsoft application software. By adding this, along with escalation procedures, the CLEC will be able to reduce the workload on their over-extended IT staff by 30-40%. CNS provides real-time tools to allow the clients’ staff to be proactive and strategic versus reactive and tactical. It also allows their internal team to deploy projects significantly faster, knowing that current network statistics and performance are being collected and analyzed for recommendations by CNS.
CNS services will include monitoring to identify potential outages for planned maintenance, detailed escalation plans for remediation in the event of an outage which could include remote or on site CNS engineering services, escalation to third party vendors as well as client awareness and co-management of the event. Trouble tickets and real time and historical data views are on a secure client web portal. Weekly reviews and monthly on site meetings are established for review and planning purposes.
Going forward, CNS will offer performance and security monitoring products through CLEC channel partners.
In the United States, a CLEC (competitive local exchange carrier) is a telephone company that competes with the already established local telephone business by providing its own network and switching. The term distinguishes new or potential competitors from established local exchange carriers (LECs) and arises from the Telecommunications Act of 1996, which was intended to promote competition among both long-distance and local phone service providers.
